The following specifications are designed to assist you in acquiring a

FALLS® XPR Series Expressway Power Reversible Snow Plow

or its equal. Differences in manufacturing designs are acknowledged. The dimensions within the specifications are intended to indicate the size, type, and quality of unit desired.

Dimensions:
Cutting width or space cleared by the snow plow shall be not less than ______ at 0 degrees and _______ at 35 degrees left or right.

Overall height at center shall be not less than 45". Moldboard height at the discharge ends shall be_________.

Cutting edge shall be one (1) 5/8" x 6" x ____ ft. Cutting edge shall be AASHO punched.

Total weight shall not be less than_______________pounds

Moldboard:
Moldboard shall be smooth rolled design capable of either left or right discharge. The moldboard shall be lower in the center and shall taper evenly to the outer discharge ends. Straight moldboards with flare end configuration are not acceptable. Moldboard shall be constructed of not less than 10 ga. high strength carbon steel, A607 Grade 50 or equal. Mild steel is not acceptable.

Moldboard shall be reinforced with not less than twelve (12) vertical ribs or five (5) rolled 4" channel iron ribs with formed discharge flange additionally reinforced with 1/2" diameter round bar to prevent distortion. The vertical braces shall be additionally reinforced with horizontal cross members of not less than 4" channel iron. Top edge of the moldboard shall be double flanged or reinforced with a minimum 2" x 2" x 3/16" A-36 angle iron. The bottom moldboard support structure or frog shall be a minimum 4" x 4" x 3/4" thick A-36 MOD angle iron boxed the entire distance between bolt holes for reinforcement.

Moldboard shall have built in snow deflectors. The built-in snow deflectors shall extend approximately 12" beyond a vertical line drawn from the leading edge of the cutting edge when the attack angle of the cutting edge is at 35 degrees (measured from vertical).

Plow shall have variable moldboard pitch adjustment to allow the attack angle of the cutting edge to be changed from approximately 15 degrees to 35 degrees as measured back from a vertical line extending up from cutting edge.

OR

Plow moldboard and push frame shall be equipped with slotted trip assemblies that will permit the plow to slide up and away from road obstructions in order to mitigate impact shock and potential damage to the snow plow. The lower moldboard support shall have two (2) sets of trip slide receptors comprised of 3/4" steel plate with 1" steel spacers. The spring shall be minimum 11/16" wire diameter x 16" length 5160H spring steel. The rod shall be minimum 1-1/4" diameter cold-rolled steel with 1-3/4" slotted steel plate. The retainer nut shall incorporate a safety device preventing accidental nut rotation and to aid in retention of components in the event of failure. Note: not available on Model 310.

Tripping
Mechanism:

Plow shall be equipped with two (2) compression spring loaded pitch adjustment bars to allow the one way snow plow to "trip" over obstructions and return to the normal plowing position without having to manually reset the tripping device. Each spring shall be 9/16" diameter with a solid load rate of 1,644 lbs or a combined rate of 3,288 pounds.

Power
Reverse
Assembly:

The hydraulic reversing cylinders shall be two (2) double acting, minimum 3" diameter with 1-1/2" hard chrome plated shafts. Hydraulic cylinders shall be capable of high pressure operation and shall be burst strength tested to 8,000 psi. The hydraulic circuit shall include a hydraulic cushion valve to protect the circuit from sudden impact.

Power reversible snow plow shall incorporate a free floating oscillating feature to allow the plow to follow the changing road contours. This feature shall not be sacrificed if plow is equipped with any quick coupler.

Mounting
Assembly:

The reversible angle push frame shall be of heavy duty construction and shall be designed to distribute plowing stresses across the entire length of the lower moldboard angle. The push frame shall attach to the moldboard with no less than four (4) 1-1/4" diameter pins. The main components of the push frame shall be manufactured of 4" x 4" x 1/4" wall square tubing, Grade A-500B or better.

The reversible A-frame shall be of tubular construction, minimum 4" x 2" x 3/16", A-500B or better. The reversible A-frame shall straddle the push frame, that is it shall be doubled such as manufactured by Little Falls Machine, Inc. and shall support the pivot pin at the top and the bottom for maximum strength. The pivot pin shall be a minimum 1-1/2" diameter.

Shoes:

Power reversible snow plow shall be equipped with two (2) shoes, 1-1/2" thick x 11" diameter, C1090 or equal. Shoes shall be adjustable without the use of tools. (Optional) Curb shoes at one or both ends.

Options:

Slotted trip assemblies.

Paint:

Shall be standard Falls color.
Approved
Models:
Approved models include: Falls Model_______. Other makes/models must contact office a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to the bid opening date to allow time for approval.

ID &
Warranty:

Unit shall be identified with a metal plate riveted to the moldboard. ID tag shall include model, serial number, and manufacturer. 12 month limited warranty.
